I have a similar problem with my new project
My engineer advised me to apply (by the correct form) to the DOT for
approval of the extra 3" of track....
He said it would take about 30days which was a month ago now..
The car is going now (not finished yet of course) and i await their reply
if they approve hotrods they shouldn't have a problem with mine
FYI
The car is an ex rally and circuit racer.. Paul sourced it for me from Peter
Phillips.. it raced with a FJ24 with 55mm webers and lots of suspension and
steering mods.. and little rust.
I got the shell, steering, 15" simmons, monster 3 core and heavily modified
rear end and a pretty fair yellow paint and basically been putting stuff
(anything that wasn't smashed that is) from my previous car on to the yellow
beast..just my webered L20 for the moment but plans are afoot to give it a
motor fast enough to keep up with the 'look'!!
I managed to burn most of the interior of the old car while i was gas axing
some bits so that saved me a whole lot of decisions about making the old
carpets and seats fit..
Guards have been flared (a la "How to modify your etc etc) front and rear
and 8.5 x 15 simmons (still with race rubber on - perfect for testing in the
car park hehe)
replaced the 1050kg springs in the rear with my other ones and the
suspension moves!!!
Peter Baker is going to take some pics for me and i'll try to get em
posted..
only an SOB would be able to get away with this one as a daily driver hehe
cheers mick
PS By the way .. it has a detachable front spoiler which is really neat..
Brad Hallett??
PPS i am not game to think what my engineer is going to charge but he
reckons its no big deal.....
