We had a similar problem with my friends 1600 whose previous owner claimed to be an auto electrician and when we removed the dash to a Calibra Dash in all the wires were either yellow or green.

We took to it with a set side cutters and removed all the 'enhanced' electrical work and replacing it with an original wiring loom from a wrecked 1600 and returning it back to its original state.

Was not to hard and was certainly worth the effort.

Cheers

Subject: Making a Wiring Loom (Racer)

Listers, I just tried to fire up the ol 1600 racer after she had been sitting for a
while and she wouldn't fire. Not that it's the problem, but in doing so, headlights
and fans came on while cranking even though they were turned off, and indicators
only work sometimes. Now the wiring is a shambles after 30 years. Too many
butchers have laid fingers on it as is easy to see in the engine bay
( It really looks f@cked). So my question for the day is
HOW COMPLICATED IS IT TO MAKE A WIRING LOOM ?
It is an idea I have been toying with for a while, and as my 1600 is TRACK ONLY
then I don't think it would be too hard. Wiring don't scare me at all..
So if anyone has some advice/pointers then please let me know.
