Jeff,
Look at what people are running in U2ltr sports sedan with L20b's, you
won't see a Z head there!
Cheers

Subject: L20B head swap info
Date: Monday, May 29, 2000 11:04

Gday all,

Well after going to Winton Raceway on the weekend Ive decided I need more
power in my Stanza. Therefore, project LOTS OF POWER has been commenced.

The engine is going to be made from one of my L20B blocks (sorry no FJ20s

in my car!!) fully balanced, bored out 80 thou, flat top pistons, etc, etc,

etc. My query is to do with the cylinder head After reading a few
messages about the Z20 head swap Im interested in the power differences.
Im NOT going to be running a turbo so Im looking for a head that will
give
a high compression ratio with excellent flow characteristics. Which
cylinder head should I go for ???? Ie, A peanut shaped head fully ported
or
a Z20 X-flow head fully ported ?? I know that kinda sounds silly but Ive
herd some bad reports on the Z20 head flow characteristics....

Another question, if I did go for the Z20 head what type of cams /non turbo

induction systems are available ???

Yet another question ! My current engine (L20B) which isnt to shabby has
30
psi oil pressure at idle 70 psi at approx 2200 rpm (done by using spacers
behind the oil pump spring). Is the idle oil pressure low ?? And if so,
could the Z series oil pump be used in an L series engine ??? (Might be a
stupid question as I have never seen a Z20 or Z18 engine...)

Any info would be great.

Jeff

P.S For the people that have been e-mailing me about it - Ive handed in
all
my assignments so that article on my Home made EFI project is back on top

of my list.
