Hi Tim,

Leave the box in, because you would have to angle the engine and gearbox in an awkward position to get it out. If you did it this way, you will have more of a chance of damaging or scratching the paint work in the engine bay. Definately take out the radiator to give you extra room as you will need it when you pull the engine back from the gearbox.

I suggest you put a trolley jack or something under the gearbox when you pull the engine out to keep it level as well.

    I helped my mate take his rotary out, we left the tranny in and took out the
    engine alone...also took out the radiator to like your saying. But I dont
