No idea but I'll try and make contact with the owner tomorrow err make that
later on today and I'll play dumb if he still thinks it just another Datto
gearbox with a funny output flange on it. The tailshaft is a split type,
I'll get a price on that in case you need it. To be honest he doesn't know
what he's got and I didn't tell him as I wasn't sure that it's a Z box, what
else could it be? It definitely came out of a Bluebird as the whole car was
there in bits. I'll get a price for it if it's still there and for sale and
also I'll write down any numbers that are stamped on it to help us identify
exactly what it is out of.

I thought we were talking about them afaik there weren't any production
models from Nissan in rwd that came with what you would call a close ratio
box with the possible exception of an early 240Z 5 spd with a flange
fitting
on the extension housing end. I actually know were there is one of these
and
it could be for sale in Canberra, they're a weird looking thing and I think
it was in a Bluebird as it has a split tailshaft with it.

I couldn't help but overhear the discision of close ratio boxes your were
having and mintioned the lack of them. What about the boxes that
nissan/datsun has developed for racing and rallying? Is it not possible to
obtain one of these nismo boxes?
