Tim,

Your mates been taking in too much wacky tobacky lately. The FJ24 was built
for the WRC and was a normally aspirated engine as in it didn't have a hair
drier.

Another small piece of trivia that's often forgotten is the turbo F1 engines
had a capacity limit if 1.5 litres which was 1/2 the NA engine of the day,
mostly the Ford Cosworth DFV8 with a Farari V12 and a few others thrown in.

There is a top read about the FJ20DET history on a site that's linked from
the Ozdat Links:

regards

Terry

Subject: fj20t history

Hey all,

I work with a guy who was telling me a few days ago that the Fj20 was first
used as a formula one engine, when it was the Fj24, running a 60psi boost,
this sounds a bit to crazy to me. Is this correct or is he just wrong, I
thought the engine was first used as the fj24 without a turbo, then they
re-did the bottom end to make it 2 litre and put the turbo on??

Anyone know what the full story is? thanks everyone, later

Tim
