Mick,
For dirt turns with the R31 fit a 120Y floor mounted lever. Someone on the
list said they have done this so it's in the archives. BTW Mick your dunny
brakes had better be working damn good and well balanced up to outbrake my
200B/R31's Unless you can stop quicker than a soobie rex from 160k's you'll
lose. Now there's a challenge thrown out for my next GC trip (:-

regards,

Terry

sorry for the delay julian
my email server has been giving me a hard time lately
I have used both the r31 rear calipers and the holden dunnydore set up on
vented discs
There is no question IMHO that the commodore set up works more efficiently
but there is no way u can run a legal handbrake Transport dept will not
approve a hydraulic handbrake (something about fluid leaking)
The r31 set up is really easy to acquire (quite cheap from the wreckers) and
set up.. u could do it in your back yard with no really special tools
(although a die grinder is very useful for enlarging the centre hole of the
disc).. Shortening the primary handbrake cable is required to mate up to the
rear cables but u end up with a fairly decent handbrake which is totally
cable operated ie legal...however it doesn't really cut the mustard if u
want to use the handbrake for turning the car as in motorkhanas...
i don't know what the answer is to improve this but i have tried a couple of
cars with the r31 calipers and the handbrake is really only a park brake
not a manoeuvring device
Has anyone else got this sussed out?
i thought about lengthening the lever under the car to improve the bite but
i have never got around to it
cheers
Mick
