Subject: Re quicker steering
Re quicker steering,
If you don't want to shorten the steering arms and have them
heat treated, another way is to fit a steering quickener before the steering
box, which is a small gearbox welded to the column. Be warned that the
quicker your steering, the harder low speed turning will become.
looked at fitting this setup witnh power steering a while back, but to prevent
cavitation of the steering pump I would have had to machine new pullies and
hence at low speed the bugger was gonna be useless anyhow.
A lot of people have been caught out by setting up their car
with 1:1 steering etc and then came unstuck in stages after a small off into a
ditch etc, unable to get back on the roads as the steering is too
heavy. --membersozdat-------------------------------------------------------
