Zac,
If you've got a dwell tach with a points condition meter you'll find the
points will be in the neutral change zone between the green & red sectors
when the factory tach starts going crazy. Time to replace them.

Malcolm,

I wouldn't think the rev counter would cause the engine to cut out unless
the connections were a bit crook. The tacho that let go on me was fried
instantly for whatever reason. I got another one out of a wreck and never
had a problem with it. The factory tacho is very sensitive to the condition
of the points, I used to know when they need replacing as the tacho would go
crazy at high rpm but the engine wasn't misfiring.

regards
Terry

Terry ,

Would the revcounter also cause the engine to cut in and out at speed?
the Rev needle was going crazy at the time plus it was going heywire
with the engine running nice.
Then it came right.

So who knows?
I never had this thing happen before, but seamed to run allright about
10mins later and the rev needle was seaming to be about right.

Remember this car will do 120Km's in first gear and a full 140Km's in
top
What a joke....(I'm for real on this)
I'll see what happens after I sort out the auto and single carb,As they
are scrap alloy.

Malcolm
