It all depends on TLC.  All the 1600's that we have built have had 240K
boxes put behind them as the $2,500 for a T5 could be put to better use,
this includes FJ's with 350hp at the wheels both at the track and dragstrip
so in response, yes.  From memory we drilled out the lay shaft bolt and
replaced it with a high tensile steel job which helped immensely and also
found that Redline Oil in the box made a huge difference.

However between the two of us we have eaten up some 23 240K boxes but this
was more to youthful exuberance than sheer power.
