Tom,
A pair of webers in good condition will cost between $500 - $650 dollars.
For $650 you get the chokes you need and all emulsion tubes mains and pumps
etc so there is no more to fork out. If buying a pair to jet yourself can
be very expensive!
Cheers

Thanks for the info Terry, I have found some trumpets that are pretty much
the same length as the ones in that ghastly orange plate (probably safe to
stick to for the time being I imagine), should get a nice induction noise
now too :o)
BTW, How much should a pair of Webers in reasonable nick cost? What about
an inlet manifold to suit? Cheaper than the current quote of $750 ea I
hope!

Tom,
It is safe to vent the outlet from the rocker cover to atmo, by law you
must fit a baffled filter which are available from most speed accessory
shops.
Can't answer the second question re SU's as I don't use and don't like em
but for webers it makes a huge difference and I imagine that any side draft
would benefit from tuning the intake to a varying degree. If you go from a
restrictive air cleaner to a more efficient one remember to re-tune your
mixtures as the immediate effect will be to run lean which is expensive if
not corrected

Subject: Some SU questions
Hi list
I have an incredibly ugly air filter on my 1.5" SU's, and would like to
replace it with some trumpets and tubular-shaped air filters. Sorry for
the been-answered-a-million-times-already questions....
Is it safe to vent the outlet from the top of the rocker cover and the
two outlets from the carbies to atmosphere? How does the length of an
intake trumpet affect the power of an L-series engine?
Thanks :)
- Tom
