The only thing that's illegal is the fact that most of these computers can be re-tuned, and when tuned properly for power and efficiency they tend to not comply with the emissions people, and therefore become illegal. The factory computer, if from a japanese car is tuned for japanese ulp fuel and hence would ping it's nuts off on aussie ulp, so PULP is the only way to go in that respect. My microtech computer was tuned with two programs, one for emissions which was lean as, and the other one for power which won't make the motor ping. Still, If I take it higher up on boost, I gotta run PULP so I don't damage the motor.

I reckon it really sucks that we have to buy premium fuel which cost us more, and yet is given as standard fuel in Japan...

Subject: aftermarket computer

I heard a rumour today that fitting an aftermarket engine management system is illegal and makes your car unroadworthy
is there any truth to this rumour? or was the guy just talking out the wrong oriface?

also just a quick question on brake boosters I'm not happy with the brakes on my daily driver 120Y and I was thinking rather than replacing the brakes with upgraded versions that maybe a brake booster would be suffcient?
I've never played with boosters before will it make a major difference?

also what brake booster is a good choice to put into a 120Y
I've heard of people using torana boosters, I know a guy who put a torana booster into his 1200 ute but I just thought I'd ask if there was an easier or better solution

thanks again
Dave
