If experience has taught me anything its to allow for future enhancements,
ie. funds allowing do it right or at least allow for it in the future.
Although I did not need to sell body parts to obtain the Motec unit (
although close ) if I had to do it again then Wolf 3d would be my choice.
To cover old ground the price, ease of installation, tuning, no need for a
laptop, dual load settings for when Mums takes the car up the shops. Don't
get me wrong the Motec was well worth it but at our level we are not
attempting to set the world alight, although we try.
I cam across two types of throttle bodies, single and dual intakes. I had
the single, did not bother with the XF falcon, again how far do you want to
go. Custom Intercooler from ATS in Cannington ( I think).
Spend the money on the fuel system from Copper lines to the primary pump.
One of the old volvo mechanical pumps off the 240GL ( I think ) flow
sufficently or by a Bosch Motor Sport for $600, ran a holley red as a pre
pump, made the swirl pot, Mitsi magna filter, if you can keep the numbers
down enough on the ECU then a standard fuel pressure regulator could be used
or as I had to a $400 rising rate regulator.
I spoke to Brett this afternoon and he can point you in the right direction
for a custom exhaust and intercooler.
Good luck
Jim

Its not standard, but as far as modifications go im not sure what it has had
done to it. It has an L20 block whuch supposably has forgies etc in it, and
the head has received work, but the details arent here yet as i brought it
just as an ex show car crashed with all the good bits put in a new shell
(obviously i brought the new shell with the bits in it). The plans i have
for it are a bit more sedate than yours obviously u must of spent a shit
load on that engine. (Im hoping to get the engine in and set up over this
summer it will be going in as i can fit it in doing 6 days a week work)Just
curious who did your exhaust work for you, as that will be the first thing i
will need as the engine never came with one. 3inch dump and all the way
through is fine with me (4 inch maybe later on after i modify it a lot more
hey). And what intercooler did u use or was it a full custom made (im hoping
to get a truck intercooler and get it cut down and end tanks modified etc as
this seems the best and cheapest way to go about it). As for fuel supply
what pumps and filters surge tank etc were u running (just trying to get an
idea of the best one of high power applications). Basically the computer
will be microwreck or wolf (with haltech if i suddenly run into money we
cant all sell our brothers off on the black market for organ donation in
order to purchase a motec:)plus im only thinking of running 15psi max until
i either rebuild it or get an fj20.(im only a uni student still after all).
Im assuming you change your throttle body, if so any suggestions or
experiences etc (sorry for all the questions but id rather buy the right
thing once then purchase the wrong stuff 3 times).
But besides the comp., i/cooler, BOValve, exhaust and diff injectors etc,
thats as far as it will go prolly until the summer of 2002 as i will
concentrate on body etc after the engine is in.
cheers for all the info ill keep ya informed of how the drags etc all go
over here
take it easy regards chris
