Steve
You hit the nail on the head.
I had from memory 9 different grinds to choose from tried them all with
varying degrees of success but at the end of the day settled for the stock
standard item.
I like you found benefits at both ends of the scale. Lots of low down power
but lacked top end puff or the reverse, no go bottom no matter how much
advance I piled into it, flash cans etc but went very hard top. Tried
advancing a tooth or to on the cam and retarding with different results.
Maybe it was the characteristics of my motor, I suppose I will never know.
Steve, put the stocker back in and the power band was evenly distributed.
With the flash can inside the car ( inline canister before the Wastegate)
you can reach maximum boost ie 10,20,30psi in 1st,2nd,3rd 4th so makes up
for the small loss because of the cam.
My experiences anyway.
Jim

Jim,
One thing you didnt mention in your setup was anything about cam's? Any
eperiences with different cams or did you always use the original spec cam??
I
just put a big port head on my z18 and got a billet cam made up from
camtech,
put it all back together and its making less power!! the cams way too big,
so im
about to slot the stocker cam back in and see what the power difference is.
Cheers
Steve.
