throw a match into it, maybe from a few feet, and if youve still got a tank after the pretty flames go away then welding should be sweet. just a sugestion. open to improvment?

G'day List, what is the safest way to weld another portion of metal onto a petrol tank ?  Some ideas I have are to steam clean the tank, or fill it with water while welding etc..  Ideas/suggestions ?  I want to live until another day....

cya,
Wardy
