I fitted some SAAS 'matilda' seats in my old 1600, They were a fair bit narrower than the stock seats, so i bolted two flat strips of steel to the original mounting points, then i attached the SAAS sliders to the same strips. To get my engineers certificate (I did an engine swap at the same time) I had to make some plates which sat underneath the body of the car ,where the bolts come through the floor. They were made of the same steel, about 4-5 millimeters (or so) thick, and about 10-15cm square.. they gave the seats alot more surface area with the body of the car. A bit of mucking around but when you think about its worthwhile.. If you had a big front impact in a 1600 the rear seat mounts would rip out of the floor pretty easily I reckon.

btw, Saas make adjustable sliding rails to suit their seats. You don't NEED to use them, but it might be easier.

good luck, if you need anymore info, let me know
