Since we are on the subject of car wiring.. i have a couple of questions that have Ive been wondering about for a little while:

1.  What is the inhibitor relay used for? From what i can tell its the switch that stops the car from starting when the car is in reverse or gear?  is that right? Reason i am wondering is cos my other car's relays are broken now and it was an auto.  Now its a manual i expect i can just hard wire the connection from the relay so when the ignition is on the car is on... This is how its done in a manual right?

2.  Is there a reason why car manufacturers dont run both low and high beam filaments at the same time?  Would this cause the bulb to blow quicker or is it cos it draws more current?  This is what i can tell from looking at the wiring diagrams anyway...

So does this mean that If I change my outers to both low/high beam lights and have those as driving lights then my car is perfectly legal? because I could just say they are driving lights... what other options for lights are there? without looking at buying a new alternator (dunno how or when you need ot upgrade this) rich

Hey list, There may have been a discussion on this topic. But I was wondering if anyone knew anything about using the aeroplane landing lights as inners?AC lights are illegal when used as headlights on road cars as you must used refracted glass, although they are legal as auxiliary driving lights so work that out err like what's the difference but that's the law. They are great lights, not sure how much these days, they do suffer from vibration and have very low life when compared to Cibie inserts. They come in 100w at auto stores and from AC suppliers at airports you could get 130w in the 4.75" lights. We liked these off road as they had twin 65w filaments and the idea was that you would blow one and not the other and that was pretty much the case. They first came on the scene in the early 70's so the idea has been around for a while. how much are they? and what spec are they? I saw this on a guy at works 1600, he reakons they are sensational. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this type of thing before. Also I got some SAAS sports seats for my b'day, I was wondering which runners were the best to use, and how hard they are to get to fit. thanx in advance, rich
