I was down at Blackburn Nissan in Melb on Saturday drooling over the S15.
The salesman spoke a lot of crap but this is what I found out.

We are getting two versions the spec S and spec R. The S is equivalent to
the old mid spec 200sx and the R is the same as the old luxury version with
sunroof and body kit.

Both have the six speed. Unless you really want an auto.

They only sell the silvia with the SR20DET format in jap where they get the
hi output version as they have 100 octane fuel and in Aus where we get a
detuned version to run on 95 RON petrol.

The car has a fancy new version of ABS. Brakes are the same as the previous
model. The car is slightly heavier. Body is stiffer through use of bracing
in the boot (saw this) under the gearbox and engine. Wheel base is the same
but track is reduced. Apparently they have increased the size of the turbo
and handle really well.

Personally they look sexy in metallic blue and I will be lining up for a
test drive.

Regards
Trev

Dave,
147kw is the same output as the current s14 200sx we get here, the 180kw s15
is
the higher spec Type R version with a six speed. The literature that I have
seen only shows the 147kw with 5 speed coming here. Although the nissan
australia web site shows the coming s15 as having a six speed, the papers
have
reported it as a 5 speed?
I think optimax is pretty close to if not more than 100 RON. Premium
unleaded
is 96-97 RON from memory so it would have to be higher to justify the price.
In
any case the computer should back the timing off to avoid pinging on lower
RON
fuels.
