The heated manifold helps engine running by preventing excessive fuel
condensation on the manifold walls.
I think that since you'll only get a couple of top-end Hp by blocking the
water jacket, that is it is not worth the effort.
Espescially since the car will idle poorly, have excessive fuel consumption,
flat spots etc... and generally run poorly.
Also, apparently, at sustained WOT the vapourising fuel in the carbies can
actually ice-up the throttles!! (More of a problem in high performance
aircraft though)
