Nat I would try fitting a new Condencer.
I had a brand new one that shit itself in only a few weeks.
When you did as you did checked to see iff there was spark there it showed ok but the 
spark wasn't good enough to fire the cylinders properly.

The way to check to see iff it is your condencer is to turn the ignition on to 
accessories with the dissy cap off and the points at closed.
Then you hold the coil lead ( the dissy end) close to somewhere that will earth and  
then manipulate the points open and shut quickly as if the car is running and see if 
you have a really good spark if not replace the condenser.

The only way I could tell that it was stuffed was to  do the same on my 1600 wagon and 
I could see the difference straight away.
