Well from my experience the 280ZX's are dogs of handlers compared to the 
240/260/280z models. The interior plastic disintegrates in sunlight as well.

I have owned a couple of 240Z's and can tell you conclusively that they are
nowhere as robustly built as the 510. They become tatty very easily and
appear to have been built to a price. They are still great cars though!

Make sure you pay more for a good original condition one that hasn't been
messed over. You won't regret it.
