Wayne, VG20s use single turbo, poverty spec T3s, $250 is more than they are
worth, beat 'em down to $200, I personally wouldn't use them to keep my
garage door open on windy days, RB20 Turbo would be better as they have a
more efficient turbine trim (only just), and the RB25s T3 is better yet
again, an R33 GTS-T RB25 turbo is a T3 BB.
Are you planning on plumbing the exhaust yourself? otherwise the cost of
having the pipes made on a 4.1 to suit 2 hairdryers would more than offset
the purchase price of a good T4, remember also that shaft drag and load
required to spool on multiple turbo setups (with the exception of
sequential) is much greater, so the negatives, far outweigh the positives.
Also take into considerations the oil feed for 2 small turbos is greater
than 1 larger turbo, sump returns have to be constructed, using just one
with a y piece is not recommended, as the returns are gravity, they soon
fill up the lines and start bypassing the seals and dump oil into either the
compressor side (ping city when the intake devours hot oil) or straight into
the exhaust (EPA pulls you over within 10 mins of leaving home)
I have setup and used both a twin (T28s ex R33 GTR) and single setup
(GT3035) on my old 253 work ute and found the single worked better, produced
less problems, used less fuel, and the icing on the cake was pulled more hp
on the pump!
Just my humble opinion, regards Eddie
