Renault 12's have this as well and I happened to see how well they work in
the wet one day. I was following a little ole lady going way to fast when at
last she sees that there is a stopped line of traffic in front. I thought I
was going to witness a big one, it looked a bit ugly but she stopped no
worries, and no sign of a lock up - pretty impressive for a disc/drum setup
but it doesn't mean you can get it to work on a 1600.

renault 16s also use a variable valve
There is a lever that is atached to the suspension and adjusts to reduce
pressure as the tail goes up under hard braking.
