Craig,
The pressure is released back into the cylinder through an equalisation
valve or orifice depending on what breed of cylinder it is. As it's a
Japanese cylinder check that the little holes in the bottom of the reservoir
are not blocked and as it's been sitting for 5 months I'd do a complete
fluid change as it's amazing how quickly hydraulic fluid contaminates just
sitting around.
regards
Terry

Subject: Brake question
Was wandering how hydraulic pressure is released from the brake lines once
the foot is no longer on the pedal. I was driving my car for the first time
today in 5 months :) but after going round the block once the car stoppedby
itself. Its just the front callipers with a new 3/4" master. What could be
the cause of this?
After i opened the bleed screw on the master they released enough for me to
crawl home. Any ideas?
Cheers Craig
