Luke Clough's 1600 has a rubber seal glued on the boot lid which is
basically a flat rubber base with about a 15mm dia tube on top (The tube is
beneath the flat bit when installed under the boot lid). The tube
compresses a bit as the lid closes to seal out the dust and water. Works
perfectly.
This car has some rust down the join between the rear quarters and the boot
channel (like many Oz built bodies). This seal has allowed him to keep an
eye on it and avoid the rust getting worse.

We bought the seal off a roll from Clark Rubber.

After seeing the build up of dirt and moisture under the standard boot seal
of a 1600 I painted 6 months ago, I am going to fit the lid mounted seal to
the other 1600's in our family.
