Just a thought .... I have done as you have, but a
200B SSS Tacho instead. What I had in my box of tricks
was an old factory (1600) clock assy that had seen
better days, after a little surgery I was able to fit
the tacho into the clock housing, but it looks
absolutly stock, from both the front and back!!!
Now the thing is, my 71 harness had a plug for the
clock lighting. I used the clock assy light harness to
light the tacho.
If you can lay your hands on a factory 1600 clock and
housing you will see how easy it is to do.
