I mean that a L20b crank usually swings 145.9mm rods so perhaps with 133mm
(L16) rods it would be more of a torque monster than a rev demon, but that
might suit your needs for the motor I dunno? With the L14 rods you'd need
custom pistons (28.15mm for flush... $$$) but it'd obviously rev better
Here's a good (and pretty cheap) combo, maybe the other listers can comment
on it for you?
L18W block
L20B crank, std 86mm stroke
VG30 pistons (87mm bore, 31.6mm compression height, 1cc dish)
L16 conrods (133mm)
W53 peanut head (39cc chambers)
Standard head gasket (1.2mm crushed thickness)
-0.25mm deck height (good squish with the peanut head)
11.5:1 compression (lower by about 0.5 by using a peanut 41cc A87, or could
use a thicker gasket)
2044cc!
1.54:1 rod/stroke ratio (less than ideal for a revy motor)
1.01 bore/stroke ratio ( "" )
If you could get the block to go out to 88mm then you'd get 2092cc and
11.7:1
David Thompson's LZ24 engine has a rod/stroke of 1.51:1 and he says his
happily revs out quite well to 6000+ so depending on what kind of engine
you're after this might be ok. Good balancing would certainly help!
