Daniel,
I believe (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) that
your Z18 has the same piston and rod combination as an L18r, which would mean
130.2mm conrods and 38.1mm pistons. The RB30ET pistons have a 32.1mm
compression height which means you'd get about 5.5:1! If you used L16/L24
rods, you would get about 6.5:1, and more revs. With L14 rods (longer
still than L16 rods) you would get about 8.4:1 and a very rev happy little
motor. This assumes 87mm bore (+1mm for a RB30ET piston) and approx 10cc
dish (that's a guess by the way)
Very turbo-friendly compression ratios, big big HP
with lots of boost, but a pig without it unless you can hunt down some L14
conrods. Depends what kind of engine you're after really. By the
way, if you're going to the trouble of building a short motor why not start off
with a 2 litre block? Or bigger?
Just my 2c
- Tom
