Nat,

Over the years the most popular cam used with 2x45DCOE and ~9.5:1+ etc is
the Works Profile 359 cam affectionately known around here as the 72 degree.
It has 288 degrees total duration and .495" lift. I have all the specs for
lash pads, overlap etc around here somewhere but most cam places can get
this profile in if they haven't got it on the shelf. You used to be able to
get small variations of the 359 profile, not sure these days but they
weren't much good with twin webers anyway. For single carbs and SU's I used
a Wade 812C (~68 degree from memory and also .495" lift) in a stocky L18SSS
engine in a Stanza with 2xSU's and also with a 32/36 DGAV for years as it
suited them better than the 359. I also used this cam with a single DCOE40 &
45 and it wasn't too bad with the single either, also a bit, err make that a
lot more street friendly than the 359.

regards
Terry

Subject: Picking a cam?

Morning listers !!

I am having trouble finding a cam that is suitable for
my new motor, I have beening looking supplers up on
the net, but they don't exeactly give me faith that
their product will work.
I rang up one company and all he asked what motor
was it for (L18B) and what I was going to use it
for(rally car) and thats it. Then he just said
everyone uses this cam, I asked why and he just
repeated that if it a rally car this is the cam I
need, He needs more info then just that!! Does anyone
know of a goood supplier of cams for rally motors!?
Cheers NAT
