Chris,

OK, change to L18 DGAV mode.

Jets - will be rich if anything so no problem (chance they were too small
for L20B). I have 2 listings for Cortina on this carbie TC Primary 140 Sec
125 (sec is too small for a Datto, I usually run a 160) but it wont run lean
as primary is good, symptoms for small secondary jet will be run out of
breath in higher rpm - it's not going to hurt engine for street use as you
wont run lean for long enough to cause any problems for the valves.

TD Cortina 2L jetting - PN? Pri 132 Sec 127; or PN#76HF/NB Pri 130 Sec 130;
or PN#76HF/MA Pri 132 Sec 137. There are a few varieties fitted to these. If
you've got one of these the primary at 132 is still probably Ok for a L18
and the Secs are all a tad low but same comment as for the TC carbie
applies.

Vac pipe - L18 has direct pipe from carbie to vac canister on dizzy. On L20B
the vac pipe goes to a switch that's in between the carbie and the dizzy - I
was advising you to bypass this switch on the L20B and connect it L18 style.
The switch is a pollution measure that's design to restrict vac advance in
the indirect gears and the DGAV doesn't like it that way.

What is the screw on the base on a 45 degree angle for?
This sounds like the mixture screw unless the Cortina carb has 2 screws in
the base plate (don't recall 2 screws though)
The mixture screw is at the back of the carbie on the rocker cover side and
goes into the base plate on an angle - not 45 degrees, more like 20 degrees.
Screw head faces to firewall so you've got to get a screw driver in there
from behind the carbie - usually dodging the vav booster outlet on a Datto.

Sounds like you're nearly there, well done and enjoy that weber power.

regards
Terry

Terry
I fitted it before i read you last post my pc was playing up, I have
actually put it on my L18 as the L20B is still on the workshop floor. I did
not check the jet size but I'm prety sure they are standard as I unbolted
the
carby from a cortina (2L) that an old lady had owned. I guessed that that
pipe was the vac pipe from looking at my other carby. I will adjust the
mixture now I know how to do it (thanks). What is the screw on the base on
a
45 degree angle for? Also when you say direct to the dizzy do you mean to
the little round thingy on the dizzy or what ???
One last thing gees it make a difference from the crappy little hitachi
carby
she takes off like a rocket, now I cant wait till I get my mild 2L in her he
he :-)

Thanks again

regards
Chris
