The engine drives well at 25 btdc as you would expect it to behave. 
If it any more advanced than that it misses at idle and breaks down badly under 
acceleration.
The pulley and front case were in the car before as is.
tdc as per the pulley is actally tdc acording to no 1 piston.
At tdc no 1 the drive slot is approx in line with the mounting bolts. But I am unsure 
what you mean by the half moon thing? Is the slot not central or something?
As for the mechanical advance I don't think this will be a problem either way as it is 
only going to make the timing advance to where it dosn't seem to want to run.
