the engine ran one day the next day it ran on 3 cylinders , the next day it
didnt want to run at all
its like something just broke down.
the compression is sweet
fuel mix sweet
timming sweet
so i have no more ideas

You've certainly replaced enough of it to get some sort of life out of it.
You only need three things to fire an engine:
1. compression i.e. ~150 psi @ 300 rpm (cold)
2. fuel and air mixed in the correct proportion i.e. 12:1 - 18:1
3. spark to arrive at the plug at the correct time to make the bang. i.e.
~5 - 18 degrees btdc
Does it backfire, start, idle, rev without load, miss under load?
We sort of haven't got much to go on to help you, more info is required to
go anywhere with this one.

can someone please offer me some advice on how to get my car to run properly
i have a '72 1600sss with a 180b sss L18 engine with twin carbs ect
the problems i have r strange. All of a sudden the engine desided not to run
i know the problem is electrial . because it aint getting enough spark at
the points i have tryed many things to remady this including
new dizzy cap
rotor
leads
plugs
points
condensor
coil
ballast resistor
batt
new earth lead
serviced carbs
set timing
fixed all loose wiring
and thats about it. it sounds like the current is disscharging back into
the coil when u op the points .
so im lost for ideas can anyone help
