Cam, What you described in the last bit of your post is familiar and it sounds like a problem we had - the valve in the vac line between the plenum and the booster is probably rooted or well on the way - the FJ turbos treat these things especially out of NA engines like they were made out of plastic so it could be a problem area with a turbo engine per say as I've never had a problem with a NA engine in this area. I fitted a couple of 180B ones on my FJ and they shat themselves in no time, Wardy had the same problem with his FJ but we found that the valve from a Skyline C210 or R30 2.4 EFI held up fine. If this valve lets go and you are over boosting (who around here isn't (:- ) it doesn't do the diaphragm in the booster much good either.
