Craig,

I believe Datrally in melbourne still stock the twin webber manifold.
An alternative is Gorden Dobbie from the Datsun performance center (also in
Melb) sell a slightly different manifold equivalent to datrally's. He say
his is better to Datrally's, Datrally say there's is better. They go for
around $250 new.

Second hand ones are about but, my experience of getting three second hand
ones is that usually they are all a bit butchered as the studs that hold the
carbs in are never in alignment. Datrally manifolds are designed for 48mm
carbs from memory. 45mm weber carbs have the same body as the 48's. 40's are
a different carb body and may not work as well on the datrally manifold due
to the large diameter at the carb/ manifold surface.

I don't know if they come as blanks when you buy them new, but if they do
get a competent machinist to set the carbs up on it. I would be aiming to
have throttle shafts on both carbs in perfect alignment and all the studs at
90 deg to the carb surface so the carbs can be slipped on and off with ease.
Performance wharehouse in Melb sell the studs for $3 for four. Use good soft
mounts too.

Regards
Trev

Craig,
I'm not to sure if you can still buy them new - I sold my 2 x 45 with
Datrally a couple of years ago and I have only seen one around here since.
Someone from Melbourne may know what you can still buy these days. A mate of
mine picked up a set of 45's off an Escort out of the local rag for $400 and
the only 38mm manifold that he could get for a L20B in Canberra was a Cannon
for ~$330 and I wasn't too impressed with the quality but that was the
choice.

Terry,
thanks for the advice. i was sorta hoping you'd say that 45s would give more
power. (just so i had an excuse to get them, yeah 40s are cheaper but like
you said 45s sound awesome) i'll keep my eye out in the quokka for the
webers. just one other thing, how hard are the datrally manifolds to get
hold of and how much should i budget for spending.
cheers,
craig
