Title: RE: R31 Struts.

Thanks I will think about it.  I don't have any braking problems with my current setup, 271mm with twin pot callipers.  But I thought the R31 struts would look better in the car than they do on my garage floor.

I have Bluebird strut on my Stanza at the moment and will put R31's when I get the time.
My experience was that four laps of Eastern Creek at a time with solid B/Bird discs and brake ducts gave no real fade so why bother with R31 conversion? Pedal feel was aweful though.

There is no cold braking advantage compared with B/Bird or 200b(I think). But R31 has vented disc and sexy caliper.

    You will:

    1. Need to make a spacer for the ball-joint as the locating spigots are different sizes.
(I haven't got around to doing it yet and 6 months of hard driving caused no problems - YET)

    2. Need to use different wheels, as offset is different. I use TRX rims. Any Bluebird or R31 rim will do

    3. Spring dia. is HUGE. Grind the support off and weld in your own. Use 180B offset strut tops (Why not). Hey even go for adjustable spring seats while you are at it!

    4. There is no change in stub camber angle - that I noticed using my eye-crometer.

    5. Shock is shorter than Bluebird or other Dattos - this is a good thing I am told.

    6. I also cut-and-shut a swaybar from an R31, approx. 22mm diameter (?) anyway it is HUGE, just fits in standard mounts. Car handles really well even though it has heaps of ground clearance.

    Hope this helps,
    Nick
