i've recently had a 2� inch system added to mine. the fitter used a thick bead of silicone around the pipe and trailing arm hole. he left that set and then connected the tail pipe to it. it hasn't rattled or squeeked at all. i believe that it is large enough for a N/A L series. let's face it 3.8L commodores use a single pipe about 2inches diameter. the extra velocity that you need for breathing comes via correct header muffler choice.
