Ford XW/XY have column shifters have the switch at the end of the shifter rod near the firewall and I presume that this continued on later models with 3 on tree gears. The Canadian top loader have the switch in the box just like a Datto but these were prone to failure and the easiest fix was to fit a manual switch inside the car as per Mark's email. If memory serves me correctly the XC was the first model to have separate white reversing lights, I had a couple of XA's, a GT and a 351 GS Ute both with top loaders that only lit both indicators and an XB/6 and I can't recall the XB having white reversing lights either.
