Mark is  correct. I only have Denso specs so the numbers might be slightly different for a Bosch. The Denso operates at 13.3v +- 2v and output range is 38kv to 42kv so the spark quality isn't affected all that much if the input voltage is in range. On leads, I believe it's an urban myth that you have to have monster leads to have good voltage at the spark plug. Most 6mm leads are rated well in excess of 40kv but if you've got 10mm leads with crap fittings you're worse off every time and i've lost count on how many times if seen this.

Subject: Re: power to coil

hi, i  dont think that 2 extra volts or so is gonna make a difference. plus since u ar using a electronic module (bb series 2) i  reckon that the voltage would be set  any hows.  too much  high tension voltage can cause miss firing , unless you have some really thick  leads e.g 10mm.
one thing to , is that u are better of with a longer duration spark, longer spark, more fuel burnt up.

Subject: power to coil

how many volts (to the coil) are required to provide the strongest and best spark for series 2 bluebird set-up with a small sports style bosch coil. currently mine is getting 11.7 volts.

is 14 volts (wired off the back of the alternator) too much - causing the coil to blow ???
