Leighton,

This is good news.

A 13/16" cylinder brakes just as well but if you have a 7/8" then this
solution will get some interest. There must be a lot of discarded 7/8"
cylinders in boxes at the back of garages that may get a run if we can fix
this problem easily. I just looked up a schematic diagram of the Kiki Bendix
type booster (510/180B/710/B210) to see/understand what's the problem with
them and how to fix it. Also, I am wondering why isn't this a problem with
other sized cylinders? I have converted my fair share of 1600's to dual
cylinders and I think have always used the 180B/Sunny Bendix booster and
only ever hit this problem with the 7/8" cylinder (much like a lot of other
ppl too.)

What exactly falls out? The only part that I can see that's a possibility is
the grommet that the master cylinder pushrod sits in that has a thing called
a "reaction disc" sitting behind it. Am I looking at the correct end of the
booster?

regards
Terry

Hello All.

All I can say is WOW!!!
I sit here in disbelief - I have just pulled my master cylinder off (
History - I have a 240K front end with 180b booster and 7/8th master
cylinder) any way i mentioned before tonthe list that i was getting tonnes
of swing in my pedel and alot of you agreed with me and werent happy with
there 240k Front brakes. wel i visited the 1600 workshop and they told me
there was a littl rubber grommet that needed to be put back in place - wel i
made some of you aware of it and then did nothing.

Wel and hour ago i fixed it - and HOLY MOSES!!!!!!!!!! this thing stops
BLOODY HARD and the pedel swing is gone(ALL OF IT) and freak en hell i cant
believe the improvement

any way i recomend to all of you with this front brake setup to find the
rubber grommet floating around in your booster put it in its rightful place
and reap the benefits of driving a datto with 240k brakes the way they are
meant to stop

YEAH BABY

Thanx

Leighton
