Hi guys,
For those who may be interested in FJ20's - I have
just finished building one (naturally aspirated) for my race car. The results so
far..............
The engine is completely stock (with new rings,
bearings, and valve springs) with the exception of some porting work to the
head, but using standard cams. I run a set of twin 45mm Webbers with Hurricane
Headers through to a 2.5 inch exhaust.
After the initial dyno tune we have reached
139.8bhp with 650 pounds of torque at the rear wheels. This was with at just
over 3/4 throttle wasn't adjusted properly - woops), and at just under
7,000rpm. The engine was still very tight, so we decided not to push it too hard
on the first day. (last Thursday)
Took it out to Oran Park yesterday for some running
in. Using lower revs early in the day and slowly building as the day progressed.
This is also when we checked the throttle adjustment, and rectified it to pull
full throttle. By the end of the day, we were pulling 7,000rpm and the engine
felt very strong.
So now back to the dyno for another tune, and
hopefully some more power, prior to the first race meeting (9th/10th March -
Eastern Creek).
Cheers,
Mark
P.S. I have added more photo's and info to the web
site if anyone's interested.
