Title: RE: Rust repair - chassis rails

Undercoat is know to let moisture through to the metal. Also undercoat being generally dull, you will find it hard to tell what's under the undercoat (body filler???). Basically I would never buy a car that is in primer, but hey that's just me!

Subject: Rust repair - chassis rails

Hello All,

Im going to look at a Z in the paper this week, I was just talking to
the guy and the cer sounds alright, with the exception of him
mentioning that there is a section of rust in one of the chassis rails
and about 1 foot of the rail needs to be replaced. That sounds
expensive to me - does anyone know if that is an expensive procedure
or not? If it is a couple of hundred it doesnt phase me too much, if
it is getting too much more then I would start to get edgy.
Also he said it has been sitting in undercoat for a while, and it
needs a spray before it gets back on the road, is there anything wrong
with sitting in undercoat? I remember hearing somewhere that it isnt
good?
Thanks again for any help. I am getting real sick of pushbikes.
