The z18 with some forgies and a TO4 would be an absolute beast.  After doing
similiar to you bros, cost wise I reckon I could have bought a CA18det as
well as all the extras I've done to mine.  The only reason I didn't was
because I didn't want to fabricate engine/gearbox mounts.  But for the price
of the rebuild I reckon I could have easily managed to buy a fitting kit.
Each to his own I guess.  Just look at your total budget and what you want
to achieve.  From my own experience if you want to do something to your car,
odds on you'll eventually do it, even if you think its out of your budget at
the time.
