James,
Strength the bottom end - bearings & rods - No
Problem. Pistoms apparently are quite good though.
Anti Slab bar over the valves to prevent valve
springs jumping out and hence bending a valve and he will easily make the
power.
I am going with a HKS head gasket, Slab Bar, Cams,
Cam gears and Turbo (size not yet selected)
I should get 300-350hp @ the wheels.
Your mate will have a seriously powerful 2ltr if he
can make 600hp! - I'd love to hear what he is doing to it.

wanted!!
Mark, that's interesting, a friend of mine is currently
building a 600hp S15 SR20DET to put into a Zed. I doubt he would be
doing that if it wasn't strong enough.
Damien, I found some good
deals on parts made specificly for an SR20 1600 converson on Cam
McKinnon's website http://www.sprite.com.au/cm510/ I'm
sure you'll also find a wealth of other knowledge there too.
As for the
computer, use the factory computer with a "piggyback" computer from a
company such as UniChip, and if your chasing big power and have a bit (ok,
a lot!) of cash to spend, even go for a stand alone fuel management
computer in addition to the UniChip setup. The price I got from
Unichip was around $1600 for the computer with boost control. Instalation
and a full dyno-tune is included in that price. The reason for using
the Nissan factory computer is that is was designed specificly to run the
SR20 motor. It has allowances for cold start, intergration into the
AC system and many other things that an aftermarket computer simply
doesn't have or does have but is a pain to setup and can never work as
well as the Nissan computer does. That and the fact the computer
usally comes with the motor/half-cut, so you might as well use
it.

PS I have sent an email to my friend in Melbourne
in reguards to an engine package for you, I'll let you know as soon as I
get a reply.
