If
your webers wont rev an L engine then then it's pretty simple - they are
running out of either air or fuel. My guess would be fuel as twins are usually
setup on average way too lean. Remember that these carbies are designed for
racing and not your average street driver. They should be fairly cranky below
3000 rpm and then pull thru to 7000 rpm but tuners don't set them up this way
as the customer wants smooth power from 1500 rpm and no bog down of the line -
that's pretty tricky to achieve even on a fairly stock engine. You cant have
it both ways with them and get 30-35 mpg around town, you should accept
22-25mpg around town and 30+ on the highway cruising.
We
haven't done much weber analysis for a while on here but give us the specs of
your engine and what jets, e tubes etc are in your carbies and we'll give you
an idea of what you're looking at here. We used to be pretty good at this sort
of thing a few years back, prolly a bit rusty what with EFI & turbos these
days.

righto, last time i had my DCOE40s on, they
would scream like a bitch from 3-5.5k RPM then stop dead...i just though it
was the cam, but now after changing back to my original carby, that revs out
fine to 7k (not really fine, but gets there ok). im gunna put the webers
back on, and i jsut wanna knwo what needs changing to make the rev
more....surely since a 30/34 hitiachi can rev ok to 7k, twin 40s should
easily make it. what needs changing, it has 36mm chokes so they cant
get any bigger.....thoughts
