What's the chances of a SR gearbox fitting behind a Z18? What about the
angle that NAPS(Z) boxes sit at?

 - good FJ boxes are a bit hard to find as they are getting on in years and
mileage and the majority of them have the same problem i.e. stuffed 2nd gear
synchros.

If you want to re-build a Z18 box and can identify a model that was offered
with one fitted in Aus, CBC will usually be able to supply all of the bits.
The bearings are no problem as the old ones will have the part numbers on
them and you'll be able to in most cases order heavy duty equivalents but
the rest of the bits could be a bit hard to source if they are something
special.

I don't know the ins & outs of a Z18 box at all, others on the list (Errol?)
most likely do and could have some better advise/input for you Pete.

Wouldn't it just be easier (and probably cheaper) to fit a FJ20 turbo
gearbox?

For the clutch, I would try sourcing a beefier pressure plate and using
the stock 225mm friction plate
