I think the Sunny is a pretty good prospect for a race car (when strengthened a little ) because of its lightness and pretty reasonable suspension design, plus parts are ridiculously cheap and easier to find than 1600 parts (in NZ anyhow..) Heres a link (japanese sorry) that might be interesting:
