Hi guys, My standard 1600 tacho has never been accurate so just got a VDO tacho from a friend of mine and i want to wire this up in the car. I understand that the std one is a pulse type tacho, but i am unsure what type the VDO one is because it isn't that new. Is there some way i can test this?? Also, i can only see 4 wires coming out of the stock tacho, two go to the coil, and i'm guessing the other two are power. The VDO tacho on the other hand has 7 positions for wires to join! There are two black knobby things sticking out on each side that each have two female connectors on them, and then there is a panel with numbers 1 to 8 spots where more connectors could come out, but only 2,3 and 4 have connectors there. Basically, i have no idea what wires to hook up to where, so any tips would be great :) my friend seems to remember all 7 connectors being hooked up to something, so i'd say i might have to run a few more wires to somewhere - i just don't know where !!!
