Thanks for replying, i am a bit stumped! 
It doesn't have any shift lite or memory functions, but I have worked out that the two 
black knobby things are actually the back of two seperate globe holders, so i guess 
the two connectors sticking out of the back of each of them are the positive and 
negative to power the globes. 
Any idea where i should connect these to so that the tacho lights up when i turn the 
lights on?

As far as the other three wires go they are Blue, blue/red and red.
I guess these must somehow connect to the coil, but i just don't know how!
I understand how a pulse tacho works, but how exactly does a sensor type tacho work??

Sorry for all the questions :-) but i'd appreciate it if you could shed some light!!
