Hi All, I am compiling an accomodation list. At the moment, prices are between $30 and $45 per person / night for accomodation near the coast. It typically gets cheaper the further you go away from the city. I will send a list to entrants hopefully by the end of the week.
Remember, entry fees go up after this week, so make sure you get your entries and money sent off before the weekend. The show is south of the city, the track day is south west and the dyno day is north west of the city. The accomodation I am investigating will typically be in the south and west of the city. The timings do include recommended stopping times by the RAA and of course they also are calculated on you driving at the posted speed limits. It automatically picks the popular (may be the shortest?) route, so if you want to get timings, directions etc of another route then you have to break up the start and end points to force it to give you info on the way that you wish to go. eg it automatically picks the New England highway from Brisbane to Sydney, but if you wish to go via the Pacific highway you'd enter Brisbane to Port Macquarie, and then Port Macquarie to Sydney. Now ppl on the list are going to write and say they've done Sydney to Brisbane in 10 hrs, and so have I, only stopping for petrol etc and sitting on 140 kph all the way and didn't get pulled over once. Last time coming back from Brisbane I sat around the speed limit all the way and got to Canberra in 17 hrs which is about right (3hrs past Sydney), we also got pulled up twice by a bored policeman near Windsor (cost ~1/2 hr) but didn't get booked - go figure. Brisbane CBD to Sydney CBD via Tamworth is 994 k's @ 17hrs ( avg 14 hrs) Brisbane CBD to Sydney CBD via Port Macquarie is 979 k's @ 18.23 hrs (avg 14.5 hrs) Here's the link: http://www.whereis.com.au/search/search_route_depart.jhtml regards Terry -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Charlotte Sent: Monday, 26 August 2002 10:31 AM To: Ozdat Discussion List Subject: Re: S E Qld People heading to Datsun Nationals Hi Eric, We will be going as long as my car is ready on time (I can't see why it wouldnt be though), but havent really thought about plans etc yet ... dont even know where we are going to stay!
