Charlotte and Tim,   Last year I made it to Sydney in around the 12 hour mark after getting lost going to Graeme's. The new road just south of the border is supposed to cut about half an hour off the time.   I only travel at the speed limit as it is not worth the extra cost of the speeding fines as they are usually higher than Queensland fines.   As the cruise is on the Sunday, I was planning on heading down early on the Saturday but if others want to head down on the Friday, I would be able to get the time off work.   It would be great to have a group cruise, so lets see who else we can get.
